Thankfully, most people in their lifetime may never need to shelter in or evacuate from their homes. But the chances of one being stranded within their car in a snowbank, floodwater, or simply broken down in a remote location are much higher. Be prepared by having the following in the car:

  • Winter weather gear for each person
  • Sleeping bag or warm blanket for each person
  • Drinking water for 24 hours
  • Non-perishable food items to support 24 hours
  • Hand crank-powered flashlight
  • Phone battery chargers

Similarly, many folks have been stranded at work for a night or two due to numerous reasons to include emergency work demands, foul weather, security lockdowns, etc. Maintain a kit like the above in your work locker or office.
